Directly from Tory Burch - Our merino wool knit tunic is based on a traditional camisola poveira, the beautiful fisherman's sweaters as represented by the city of Póvoa de Varzim in Portugal. Originating in the 1800s, camisola poveira were worn by fishermen in cold weather. The patterns symbolize the local culture, almost always done in red, black and white.
