Everyday Care Caring for your leather goods begins with daily maintenance. By adhering to a few simple guidelines, you can prevent unnecessary wear and tear and prolong the lifespan of your accessories for years to come: Leather, being a natural skin, has the potential to stretch. Take extra precautions with frequently used leather items. Dedicate a few moments each week to gently wipe away dust and blemishes with a soft cloth or brush. Scratches can diminish the flawless craftsmanship of your piece. Be mindful of avoiding contact with heavily embellished clothing, sharp surfaces, or chunky jewellery while on the go. Avoid Water Water can be detrimental to leather by robbing it of natural oils and causing discolouration and wrinkles. If you’ve been diligent with moisturising and have chosen a balsam that contains beeswax, it will act as a barrier against moderate amounts of water. However, avoid exposing your bag to heavy rain. If your bag does get soaking wet, do not force-dry it with heat. Wipe it with a dry cloth and let it dry slowly at room temperature, ensuring it maintains its shape during the drying process. Storage Storing your leather appropriately is one of the easiest ways you can prevent damage and maintain a high-quality finish: Store your bag in the original dust bag, away from direct sunlight and humidity. Air it every few weeks to prevent mould. Avoid using plastic bags; they prevent good ventilation.
